After going back to Australia for a short trip to see the kids and grandkids, and the brief court case, now
adjourned to late August, I have had to shorten my trip to Alaska. I have a friend travelling along with
me John Akers, who I spent many seasons working and skiing with in Vail.
We started at Sun City in Arizona where I had left my 5th Wheeler and truck in storage while I returned to
Australia. The day I arrived in Phoenix it was 118 degrees Fahrenheit as we came back from the airport to John's
house a big difference from the 30's and 40's in Australia. The next few days were still over 115 each day and
after having solar fitted to the van I was busting to get away.

We finally got away Saturday morning the 20th June and made our way across Highway 10 taking 1
night to get to Los Angeles and up Highway 5 turning off at Bakersfield after staying another night
there. We headed to Sequoia National Park where John's sister and her husband, Mary & Brian work as Rangers. We
had two great days getting a guided tours and hikes by these two through some of the largest trees in the
world and coming across some wild bears.
